Winter season is nearly finished. This means that soon you can spend a bit of time outside of your house. In the event that you love songs then installing a few speakers out in the open is certainly a very good solution. You may not require speakers to be mounted outside of the residence forever. You can install your speakers outside the house temporarily in particular when you only need to have the speakers for the duration of special occasions for example an event. After the get together is done, you will take your speakers back inside your dwelling. Cordless loudspeakers are a excellent solution in the event that you use loudspeakers outside of your property just every once in a while. Read on the following several sections in order to find out ways to correctly set up a wireless speaker outside the dwelling.

Commonly, wireless pc speakers happen to be an excellent choice for out-of-doors use. In case you want to use cordless speakers outdoors for good then you will need to take additional care when choosing a speaker. In addition, selecting the right spot for installing your loudspeaker can be important. Naturally, the outdoor environment can be considerably more demanding for virtually any type of speaker than the indoor environment. Elements such as moisture, extreme temperatures as well as direct sun rays could possibly do some damage to your speaker. Cordless speakers possess fragile electronic elements inside and for that reason tend to be a lot more susceptible to moisture compared to normal speakers.

Whenever ordering an outdoor loudspeaker, make sure that you verify that the loudspeaker is durable enough to be installed permanently out of doors. For instance, the control parts of your speakers such as volume control or perhaps channel-switch knobs are protected by some water-resistant substance. To stop water from creeping inside your loudspeaker via the gaps in the loudspeaker enclosure, loudspeaker producers are normally adding some flexible material into these spaces.

In the event that you are not able to find a way to invest in a loudspeaker which provides adequate protection against rain as well as severe climate, you can easily as an alternative purchase a regular wireless loudspeaker and use it outdoors just for the short term.. Right after the event is over, you can carry your speaker back indoors. In your home, the speaker are going to be protected from rainfall. Since the loudspeakers are cordless, taking them outdoors is quite easy. Take note however that cordless types of loudspeakers require power. Electrical power is necessary as a way to allow the internal amp and cordless module to operate. If you don’t have a mains electric power outlet in the open air, then your only option is to work with a wireless speaker which works with batteries.Because of the low voltage of batteries, battery-driven loudspeakers normally have got very restricted wattage. When you run battery-powered cordless speakers, the battery voltage will decrease as the batteries are being discharged. The loudspeaker electrical power is strictly associated with the supply current. Hence, the loudspeaker wattage is likely to decrease over time. If your party is comparatively short then you might manage on one set of electric batteries. For extended occasions, you might wish to give some thought to getting an extra set of electric batteries for you to have the capacity to change batteries the moment you are getting low on electrical power. If you have a mains socket though then you really should absolutely use a wallwart electrical power supply instead of electric batteries.

Here I am with 22 month old twin grandsons, Spenser and Riley, and creating a new generation of fishermen.

Convinced grandma and Shayna, to watch the boys so I could take my son fishing for a while.

Kokopelli saying “hey, you forgot me.

Fished from 9-12 and also got a red and 10-12 trout. released all except for the red and flounder, which we had on the grill for dinner. Had fun fishing with my son.

One Easter activity was a little kid perch fishing contest.

First of all “customer” is a figure of speech.

Mary’s cruise ship partner, Linda, had a day off of work today and hadn’t fished since Sept. Took her out about 8AM for a day of, hopefully, catching fish. She normally fishes shrimp but decided to follow her guides lead and use lures. Great student! Fished between Pita and IMS backyard. First drift we put 3 keeper trout in the boat, then all of a sudden the bigger fish got lockjaw.

Worked and worked and worked for what we got. While fishing in 3′ of water I thought, with me that can be a dangerous thing, the water is high so lets try the shoreline. Paid off. Within 10′ of the shore we hook up with a double red. Linda’s went a shade under 20″ and mine a nice 27 7/8″. She wanted to keep hers but I convinced her that in my boat that is a no no.

Here is Linda with out catch. The 2 biggest trout were at 19″. She was telling me to hurry and take the pic because she was losing her grip.

Me and my red.

Gave all fish to Linda to share with family. Reds were on the half shell which she never tried, but will tonight.

The meeting was called to order by Jeff Mills at 7:02 PM. There were 18 members and guests in attendance. Tom Turner made a motion to approve the minutes from January’s meeting; Steve Utley seconded; no discussion; motion passed.

Board of Director Reports

President – Jeff Mills

Past Events

Don gave a report on the TPWD Angler Education class on January 12. We had a really good turnout, 8 LMFFCC members were there. We got great pointers and tips from TPWD’s Caleb Harris for how to organize education events. TPWD has a lot of great resources we can use for upcoming activities.

Don also talked about the trip to Swinney Switch for white bass that was a lot of fun. Almost everyone caught fish. Sydney outfished Jeff 2 to 1. The fishing up there should be really good for the next month. Members are interested in doing another trip soon.

Friends of Padre took over the Big Shell Cleanup after Billy Sandifer retired last year. This year’s cleanup is tomorrow, February 23. For information, visit Friends of Padre’s website. Harry and Bonnie Barnes and Don will be going.

We had a really good turnout at Roy’s a few weeks ago. There were about 6 nonmembers who got casting instruction, new visitor, Conrad.

Two new visitors at tonight’s meeting: Conrad, from Roy’s Event and David from Don and Steve’s casting & tying class at TAMUCC

Upcoming Events

Marsh Plantings - Coastal Bend Bays Foundation is doing marsh plantings to rebuild and restore islands. They take you out and show you what to do. Wear wading boots because it is super muddy. There is a planting tomorrow morning; the next two plantings are scheduled for March 9 and March 30 (tentative dates based on weather). For more information, click here.

Chili Cook-Off – Bonnie gave an update on next month’s chili cook-off. She said things are going well; she invited the Rockport Fly Fishers to participate. Rules to be announced, so far NO MIXES! There are no set judges this year – judging will be done by participants and visitors. Bring your own NON-ALCOHOLIC drinks and chairs.

Vice President – Steve Utley

Steve gave a report on last weekend’s TroutFest. He said the event was incredible this year – He fished a lot this weekend, with Jeff, Mike and Michelle. He caught two over 18″ rainbows. GRTU raised a lot of money at the banquet Friday night. Lefty Kreh told stories and jokes, and did casting demos. Texas IFFF council had a booth, as well as many other vendors and organizations. The movie night on Saturday was cold, but the films were really good. Rio Raft has very reasonable prices for camping and it is a great event. Steve and Jeff will definitely be going back next year.

Secretary – Sydney Alcala

Sydney asked for thoughts on the new website – no one had questions or comments.

Earth Day Bay Day is April 13 this year from 10 am to 5 pm. Sydney already submitted the registration form for the club to get a booth. Last year there wasn’t adequate room for casting instruction and the kids were more interested in fly tying so she believes the focus should be on tying this year. If you’d like to volunteer to participate in Earth Day Bay Day, please see Sydney. Members who volunteered so far: Sydney, Don, Harry, Bonnie, Steve Gonzalez, Steve Utley, Waukeene and Tom Turner.

Coleto Creek Trip – We have opportunity to do overnight trips at park ranger cabin in Coleto Creek, with a park ranger we met at TPWD Angler Education class in exchange for fly fishing lessons. 4-5 people per trip; leaving at 2 PM on the last day. Possible dates include March 26-28, April 2-4 and April 9-12. To reserve your spot in one of the trips, email Sydney (sydney@lagunamadreflyfisherscc.com). First come, first serve.

Kid Fish at the Hatchery – We are trying to put together another kid fish at the hatchery. Sydney and Jeff will coordinate; she got helpful information from David Norris, President of Islander Anglers to help organize. We can use TPWD’s resources for angler education for this event.

Treasurer – George Board

We have $3,860.05 in the bank and 24 paid members for 2013 so far.

The write-up was filed with the IFFF and George is working on filing forms with IRS with help from Jim Schramm.

The Texas Council is going along; they are planning events. George is going in March to be our representative. He is Assistant Treasurer on the board. Jim Schramm said the Gulf Coast Council gave Texas Council approx. $13,000 to get started.

Fly raffle at February meeting raised $59.

Membership Director – Don Alcala

Give out LMFFCC cards to people that you meet and write your name on the card. Make sure anyone you refer to the club puts your name on the membership form so you get credit for 2013′s membership drive (prize TBD).

Bring friends with you to our meetings.

Make sure to join IFFF – for every 12 members, we get a TFO Professional Series rod to use for education events.

Youth Director – Stephanie Brandon

Not in attendance.

At-Large – Steve Wells

Not in attendance.

Member Reports

Tom Turner - No report from events committee

Jim Schramm - IFFF is trying to go green, so join/renew your membership online instead of by mail. They will be communicating by email more than paper moving forward. Make sure your email address is correct with them so you get all news and updates.

Guest Speaker – Pat Kellner

Our guest speaker was Pat Kellner, a fishing guide, blogger and custom rod builder from central Texas. He gave a talk on kayak fishing for bass. Visit his website at http://phkellner.com to learn more about him and his techniques.

The meeting was called to order by Jeff Mills at 7:05 PM. There were 20 members and guests in attendance.

Board of Director Reports

President – Jeff Mills

Jeff discussed past events, including the December 15 outing and January 5 Roy’s event. No one showed for the December 15 outing. Roy’s had a good turnout; there were 3-4 people that came and learned about casting.

Jeff asked if anyone was interested in doing a Waldron Pond cleanup. There is interest among members so events team will research and coordinate.

Upcoming Events

January 12 – TPWD Angler Education class at Texas State Aquarium Sealab from 9 AM to 2 PM. Anyone who is interested can participate, it’s a free event. (Sydney sent an email to the club on January 11 with details for attending.)

January 19 – Outing for white bass to Swinney Switch area. Don will scout ahead and find a good location. Meet at Sam’s Club near the gas pumps at Greenwood and SPID at 8 AM. Bring 5 wt for smaller white bass and 8 wt for gar.

No Fly Tying Roundtable this month – we are now combining the Roundtable with Roy’s fly event on the first Saturday of each month.

February 2 – Roy’s Casting & Fly Tying Event from 9-11 AM

Chili Cook-Off – Last year’s chili cook-off was a success so we’d like to hold it again this year. We got permission from Roy’s to host it there on the third Saturday in March (March 16). Bonnie Barnes will coordinate chili cook-off with her committee of Don Alcala, Steve Utley and Wilma Morrow. No mixes allowed.

Fundraiser for 2013 – We had an idea to do a custom rod raffle or auction. Dorothy Schramm will build us a custom rod for the fundraiser. Dorothy also mentioned that she does a rod building class at her campgrounds every Monday morning.

Events Team – We need an events team to plan monthly fish outings and other events throughout the year. Events committee is Tom Turner, Steve Utley and Mindy Fendley.

Car Decals – Each member gets 1 decal with membership. Each additional decal is $3. See George Board to purchase.

Vice President – Steve Utley

TAMUCC will let us hold our meetings and fly tying events in the Carlos Truan Natural Resources Center.

Tom Turner made a motion to keep the club meetings at Nolan’s and Wilma Morrow seconded. There was discussion among members about staying at Nolan’s or moving to another location such as Jason’s Deli or another restaurant. Jeff polled members and votes were as follows: 4 to stay at Nolan’s, 3 for Jason’s Deli and 9 for TAMUCC. Members voted on Tom’s motion: 4 for motion, 13 against. Motion fails.

Sydney made a motion to move club meetings to TAMUCC. Dorothy seconded the motion. No discussion. 12 for motion, 3 against. Motion passes. Club meetings will be moved to TAMUCC at Carlos Truan Natural Resources Center. They will stay on the second Thursday of each month starting at 7 PM.

Ken Morrow made a motion to not use TAMUCC’s catering service at the club meetings. There was some discussion. Ken said that members can still meet before and after the meeting at restaurants to eat, but the club won’t utilize TAMUCC’s catering at meetings. 16 for motion, 0 against. Motion passes.

Secretary – Sydney Alcala

Sydney sent a member survey to all subscribers to LMFFCC email list so BOD members and events committee can better plan for 2013. Among questions asked were if we should move meetings to a different location and for general ideas about the club.

The website has a new look due to an upgrade in software. The forum needed a major upgrade and since it hasn’t really been used, Sydney decided to ask the club if they were still interested in using the forum or moving to a club blog that is similar to the forum. All members can log in to the website and post fishing updates, reports and add photos. WordPress makes it easier to upload photos and keep spammers out of the site. If you have any trouble creating an account or using the website, please see Sydney.

Treasurer – George Board

We have $3597.05 in the bank and 15 paid members for 2013 so far.

If you renewed your membership by January meeting, you get 4 tickets for the fly raffle.

Fly raffle at January meeting raised $18.

Membership Director – Don Alcala

Give out LMFFCC cards to people that you meet and write your name on the card. Make sure anyone you refer to the club puts your name on the membership form so you get credit for 2013′s membership drive (prize TBD).

2012 membership drive is a tie between Don Alcala and Steve Utley. Prizes were Scientific Angler Redfish line donated by Jeff Mills and a Cliff’s fly box donated by Don Alcala.

Bring friends with you to our meetings, especially when we have speakers like Shauna Ertolacci, who talk about conservation and other things besides just fishing.

We have some great speakers lined up this year already, including Shauna Ertolacci (tonight’s speaker) and Owen from CBBEF.

TroutFest is February 15-17 this year at Rio Raft on the Guadalupe. For more information, visit their website. Ken Morrow said he will be there with a booth for Cheeky Fly Reels.

Youth Director – Stephanie Brandon

Not in attendance. Don gave her report:

Stephanie and Sam have contacts at CCA to coordinate another kid fish at the CCA nursery. We did one a few years ago with a local Boy Scout troop and it was a success.

She will also talk to some Boy Scout troops she knows and talk to Diego’s class about putting together some kid events.

At-Large – Steve Wells

No report.

Member Reports

Jim Schramm - Jim Schramm gave an update on the Federation. The IFFF offers discounted memberships at $15/year for students under 26.

The Texas council should be finalized by the end of January. By the 21st, the board should be elected and they will get everything lined up. Texas council will have a presence at TroutFest. Your IFFF membership will transfer to the Texas council automatically unless you tell them otherwise.

Guest Speaker – Shauna Ertolacci

Shauna is a returning guest speaker who is a turtle biologist at Padre Island National Seashore. She gave a talk on different sea turtles we have in Texas, such as Kemp’s Ridley, Greens and Loggerheads.

PAIS hosts free turtle releases to the public during the summer. For information on the turtle program and the releases, visit their Facebook page.
